Snacks For Sasha!
Feeding these little humans is a giant job! I know, lately, my little human is giving me a run for my money! For myself, I take a lot of pride in knowing exactly what goes into Sasha’s foods and snacks. MOST of the time, I am creating snacks, muffins, bars, Glo-Bites, etc. Now that she is in school, it gets tricky. Regardless, her health and nutrition are my jobs and I am responsible for her little growing body.
Sometimes, I wonder if she is just being stubborn and controlling! I say that because if it were up to myself and Mario, this kid would eat nothing but fruits veggies and lean protein. Such a fantasy, I know! I never imagined that MY KID would want to eat French Fries, Macaroons, Potato Bread! Dear God! She was the baby who would sit in her baby seat and see me cutting her avocado and sweet potato and kick her legs so fast, her eyes would get so big, and with both hands, she would try to grab it from me! Now, the only time she will eat avocado is if I bribe her somehow. Such a little boss!
Sasha is very picky lately with what she wants for snack time.
When I pack her lunch for school, I always make sure to give her a bento box that is balanced. Her protein comes from either a turkey and cheese sandwich or sunflower seed butter and jelly. There is always some sort of fruit whether it’s an apple, pear dried mango or grapes. I also include either Skinny Pop Pop Corn or one of the Annies’ snacks or this one. Some days she comes home and I find the fruit in the bento box, and everything else is gone. That gets this mama mad. When that happens, I don’t give her as many snacks and more fruit, so she knows I mean business. For the most part, she is a VERY healthy eater and as long as I see her day is balanced out I am fine.
Chocolate Chip Filled Strawberries
At home, I get very creative, I have to! Here is a great little snack that is easy to make and one the whole family can enjoy. For the chocolate chips, I use Lilly’s vegan dark chocolate chips. I always have these yummy little sugar free dairy free morsels in my freezer. The strawberries I get from Whole Foods are organic and delicious! All you have to do is wash and dry the strawberries. Hull them and put about three to four chips in each strawberry. TADA! Sasha is happy she is eating chocolate and Mama is happy because Sasha is eating her fruit! It’s a Win-Win! Give it a try!
