As I sit on my floor, covered in books, colored pencils, snacks and packets of coconut oil, I am counting my lucky stars that we are headed back to Cali! Last time we were there, I was almost eight months pregnant with Sasha. The first time we went- Mario and I, was in 2010. I fell in love. The first time, we did the PCH starting in San DIego and finishing our trip in San Fran! How could you not love California!? The palm trees, the beaches, the strand, the sunsets, and the laid back lifestyle.
While we don’t leave for a few more days, with a little one, you must always pack, and then pack some more just to be sure you have it all, as you rush out the door heading for your flight!
You may recall a post I did in March before we went away Flying with a toddler. Well, I have added some new things for Sasha’s flying experience this time.
Gotta Love Melissa + Doug products for toddlers and kids, right? Two doodle pads and two “On the go” pads that you simply fill the pen with water, color and presto! No mess, and a kid that’s being creative, silent and happy. Found some pretty sparkly colored pencils for our doodle pads as well as some scented pretty colored pencils. Some cherry + banana stickers that smell yummy, because who doesn’t want their seat on a plane to smell fruity? Sasha will end up sticking those stickers everywhere! I also found two tiny boxes of miniature clay in different colors. We’ll make an airplane, or a flower- who knows! The walkie talkies were just something I had to get! I thought they’d be fun since one of us will be sitting alone (lucky Heather). We can bother her via this little device, instead of popping up and down the aisles like some wild child! Aside from those goodies, I will pack her headphones so she can listen to Taylor Swift or some Kiddie music while she relaxes and naps.
Last few trips I was consumed with making sure Sasha was okay, happy and content. Now it’s time for Mama to be OK, HAPPY and CONTENT on the flight!
For Mama in flight
It drives me crazy that as soon as the flight takes off, my skin gets so dehydrated and feels so dry, almost like the clay mask I had on my face tonight! So it’s important to start drinking tons and tons of water days before you travel. While I would normally want a RED EYE from Starbucks, I am all about chugging water with some Power Reds or gulping some green drink from Organic Pharmer before I head outta here! I want all the antioxidants I can get! While in flight I really don’t drink anything but water.
While at Whole Foods, I picked up some Marula Oil, to rub on my face every hour along with this awesome spray mist by Solar Recover. A great way to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized while you are flying. The coconut oil is great to rub on your hands, your arms and maybe through your hair. I plan on pulling my hair up and back while flying. LESS IS MORE!
Stumbled upon these disinfecting wipe while shopping and figured I would just divide the wipes up and put into two baggies, and have half for the plane going to Cali and half the wipes for the plane coming home. I wipe EVERYTHING down from the seats, to the arm rest to the tray tables and even the area around the window! The window too! FOR SURE!
As for what I’ll be doing in flight, ha! You know, I will be entertaining Sasha. I did pack some magazines, one of which is a fitness magazine of course. The other two are fashion mags, so I can start thinking about the beautiful Fall clothes I will buy and never wear because I am always in my Lululemons!
Mario + I have our favorite go-to snacks in flight
I love Lara bars, water, and my homemade trail mix of goji berries Lilly’s vegan chips and some pumpkin seeds. All raw and unsalted. I actually don’t mind staying hungry for a little bit. It gives my digestive system a break! I may bring my Power Reds and shake them up with water, for something other than water. Mario will usually bring his omelet + baked yam with avocado.
