Oh, My Dear Sasha! Today you are five years old. It’s almost as if it happened overnight. Right before my eyes, you went from being that little baby who’s diapers were too big when you were born laying in the NICU swaddled tightly to this vibrant little girl who is so fiercely herself. A little Tina is what I like to call you. My five year old who loves to manipulate her daddy (BIGGEST SUCKER) into getting whatever she wants. Someday you’ll have to tell me some of your tricks!
This year is so special to all of us because you started your new school, and I lost my little sidekick. You walked into your first day of school as if you’d been there all your little life, and that my dear is self-confidence and you rock it. That is the one thing mama wants you to always have. It should be your best accessory! I know how you LOVE accessories! When I see you with the younger kids helping them and accepting them and adoring them, it makes mama’s heart so proud.
You’re beyond smart and know things other kids your age don’t know yet. I love that you use big words and actually understand what they mean and how to use them.
Daddy and I are still trying to figure out where you get your dance moves, because girl, You GOT MOVES! When we are driving in mama’s car and I look in the rearview mirror and hear and see you singing My hearts breaks! You have no idea how beautiful you are. Your soul is from heaven.
Now, I will say, that I get grouchy and lose my patience with you by the end of the day because mama is just tired. When I see you giving daddy a run for his money or making him beg for kisses or sometimes you make him sad, a part of me sees the future and knows that NO BOY or MAN will ever break you or get you to do something you don’t want to and I look up to God and smile. But please, if there is one man you should ALWAYS kiss and never break his heart, it’s your dad. He is so madly in love with you. You can always give him a run for his money though, I will be your backup!
I love you, sweet girl. I love your voice, your eyes, that smile, and your COODY! Mama’s heart is beating for YOU. You are my entire universe. I love our bond, and I love that you allow mama to be happy, grouchy sad or a little nutty sometimes. You are my gift from God.
Always allow God to remain in your heart and in your life. He is GOOD.
